The Environmental Protection Agency Administrator has announced that one billion dollars in grants will be awarded to purchase electric school buses under a new federal program.
Among the Maine school systems expected to receive funding include Winthrop, RSU 83/MSAD 13 and RSU 12.
According to the EPA, the buses will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save money.
